Only select Golden Bulls will display their skills

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University football program will host a NFL pro day on Friday, February 19th at the Irwin Belk Complex. The session is closed to the public and a select group of nine Golden Bulls will displayed their talents in front of NFL scouts
.
Scouts from the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Jacksonville Jaguars will be in attendance.
One graduating senior and eight rising seniors will go through testing, drills, and interviews. Senior wide receiver Kenny Strickland (San Jose, CA) is one of two receivers to be examined. Strickland caught 13 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in 2009. He also returned 14 kicks for 263 yards. 

Junior wide receiver Jeremy Franklin (Casselberry, FL) is the other receiver to perform for the pro scouts. Franklin ended the 2009 season ranked first in the CIAA in All Purpose yardage with 1382 yards. He is second in the conference in receptions per game (averaging 5.3 catches) and third in receiving yards per game (averaging 73 yards). Franklin had the most kick return yardage with 628 yards off 25 returns. He finished with 610 receiving yards off 48 receptions and five touchdowns, along with 143 yards in punt returns. Franklin currently has 2,331 receiving yards and 151 catches for his career at JCSU. He was the only Golden Bull to receive First Team All-CIAA honor this season. 

Also on the offensive side of the ball, tight end Markus Gray (Newberry, SC) and fullback Maurcus Woolford (Fayetteville, NC). Gray has caught 20 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns the past two seasons. Woolford was the lead blocker on a offense that rushed for 1,383 total yards. 

All-CIAA second team safety Lawyer Montgomery (Buffalo, NY) will be in attendance. Montgomery ranked fourth in the conference for total tackles with 82 (53 solo, 29 assists). He had a team-high three interceptions with 29 return yards and 2.5 tackles for a loss of 17 yards. Montgomery also had five pass break ups and one forced fumble. 

Also out of the secondary will be defensive backs Andre Saxon (Greenwood, SC) and Girard Miller (Winston-Salem, NC). Saxon had a productive 2009 accumulating 46 total tackles (third on the team), two interceptions, and two pass deflections. Miller racked up 40 tackles with one pass break up and one forced fumbles. 

Defensive end Nicholas Banks (Denmark, SC) and linebacker Michael Morgan (Sumter, SC) will round out the JCSU performers. Morgan collected 43 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery this past season. Banks registered 24 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in 2009.
