JCSU BOWLERS TAKE THIRD IN CIAA WESTERN DIVISIONAL MEET II

Salisbury, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team placed third in the CIAA Western Divisional Meet II hosted by Livingstone College at the Woodleaf Lanes on January 22-24. The Lady Golden Bulls finished with a total pin count of 10,299, behind Fayetteville State with 12,770 and Saint Augustine's with 10,321. 

On day one, senior captain Nijah Braddox (Brooklyn, NY) averaged a team-high 165, including a 180 game against Shaw University. Senior Charmaine Ellis (Dale City, VA) rolled a season-high 182 and posted a 159 average on day two of team play. 

JCSU had a team match total pin count of 7307 and 2992 baker match total pins. The Lady Golden Bulls were 5-5 in team matches, 4-1 in baker match for a 9-6 overall record. Fayetteville State had a spotless 15-0 record in team matches and baker play over the three-day event. 

Chowan was fourth with 10,081 total pins, Shaw fifth with 9840, and Livingstone finished in sixth with 8902. 

Johnson C. Smith will return to the lanes for the CIAA Round-up hosted by Shaw University in Raleigh, NC February 5-7, 2010.
