NCAA provisional qualifying performances

University Park, PA – The Johnson C. Smith University men's indoor track and field team had some solid results at the Penn State National held on January 31-February 1 at the Horace Ashenfelter III Track.

Senior Rolando Berch (St. Andrew, Jamaica) clocked an indoor personal best time of 47.79 in the 400m event. Berch is a NCAA provisional qualifier and ranks 4th on the TFRRS performance list. Freshman Joshua Cunningham (Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Waynee Hyman (Warwick, NY) both had season best times of 49.78 and 49.99, respectively in the same event.

The 4x400m team of Cunningham, Hyman, sophomore Patrick Campbell (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), and Berch finished with a season best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:15.25. JCSU ranks 7th on the year to date TFRRS performance list.
Junior Rajiv Service (Trelawny, Jamaica) competed in the 60m and the 200m events. Service had a season best time of 7.04 in the 60m and a personal best time of 22.71 in the 200m. Campbell timed in at 1:08.17 in the 500m.

Senior Horane Holgate (St. Thomas, Jamaica) had jumps of 6.55m and 14.08m in the long and triple jump events, respectively. Senior Randale Watson (Kingston, Jamaica) placed eighth with a throw of 15.55m in the shot put. Sophomore Tracy Jones (Charleston, SC) had a personal best toss of 14.10m in the shot put.

The Golden Bulls will travel to Winston-Salem, NC for the 2014 CIAA Indoor Championships. Competition will be held February 16-17 at the JDL Indoor Track Complex.
