JCSU MEN’S TENNIS SHUT OUT BY AUGUSTA STATE 9-0 ON THE ROAD

First match of the spring semester

Augusta, GA – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team was topped by No. 26 Augusta State University 9-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center. The Golden Bulls drop to 2-6 overall, while ASU improves to 2-0 on the season. 

The senior duo of Jason Stuckey and Aaron Hutcherson fell in number one doubles 8-3 to Jenner Stevenson and Jan Labas. Sophomores McKenzie Bean and Robert Butts lost in No. 2 doubles 8-0 as did junior Jamil Jones and sophomore Jerald Stuckey

Jason Stuckey pushed his singles match at the number one spot to an extra set (6-1, 3-6, 7-10) before suffering a loss to Jenner Stevenson. Each of the fellow Golden Bulls dropped their singles' matches also. 

JCSU returns home for their next match against Catawba College on Thursday, February 11th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts.
