Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team will volunteer their time and efforts with the “Care to Share” program on Thursday, March 11th at the 6600 Plaza location. This is the ninth community service project from the department of athletics this academic year.

The Lady Golden Bulls will be partnering with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to collect and distribute food and clothing to the less fortunate as a part of the “Care to Share” initiative. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. SHFBM has been in existence since 1981.

“I felt it was important for our team to have a sense of service and involvement in the community,” said first year head coach Jovon Times. “Projects like these make us appreciate where we are in life and they build togetherness as a team. We plan on participating in community service projects throughout the season.”

JCSU will be at The Plaza location from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Johnson C. Smith will host Benedict College on Wednesday, March 10th at the Biddleville Park. First pitch in this non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
