SALISBURY, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's and women's cross country team took first place at the 2010 Blue Bear Invitational hosted by Livingstone College at the Salisbury Community Park. The men's team scored 29 points in the 8,000 meters race with a total time of 2:48:001; the women's team recorded 24 points in the 5,000 meters with a total time of 2:11:04.
This was a dual meet between JCSU and Livingstone with participation from the Blue Bears Track Club. Sophomore
Akino Ming (Portland, Jamaica) finished in second place by Joshua Pinyan with a time of 30:45.08. Sophomore
Kent King (Pittsburgh, PA) was the second JCSU finisher in fifth place with a 31:45.84 time. Senior
Jonathan Jackson (Cheltenham, PA) and sophomore
Jamille Callum(Orleans, MA) finished in the top 10 for the Golden Bulls in seventh and ninth, respectively.
Livingstone won second place with 36 points and a time of 2:51:52, followed by the Blue Bear Track Club with 61 points and a 3:11:48 finish time.
On the women's side, sophomore
Naffene Briscoe concluded the race in 24:54.02 for third place. J.C. Smith took fifth through 11th place. Senior

Johnson C. Smith will travel to Greensboro, NC for the Greensboro College Invitational on Saturday, September 25th for their next meet.
