– The Johnson C. Smith University women's indoor track and field team placed amongst the elite at the Penn State National Invitational hosted by Penn State University at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track the weekend of January 30th.

In the 60m dash, junior Monique Kelly (St. Andrew, Jamaica) finished 25th out of 40 with her time of 7.71. That was a personal best and provisional qualifying time for Kelly, who now the 14th ranked sprinter in Division II.

Three Lady Golden Bulls set themselves apart in the 60 meter hurdles. Freshman Danielle Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) clocked in at 8.66 (PB), which marks provisional qualifying time and now ranks her No. 6 as a sprint hurdler in Division II. Junior Rosemarie Carty (St. Andrew, Jamaica) had a time of 8.41 (SB ) a joint third best time in DII. The time makes Carty an automatic qualifier for NCAA Indoor Championships.

Senior Shermaine Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) recorded a time of 8.27 in the semi-finals and placed 6th in finals (8.42). Shermaine Williams remains ranked No. 1 in the 60m hurdles in Division II.
