The Golden Bulls faced two losses over the weekend to Catawba and UNC-Charlotte

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to Catawba College on Friday afternoon in Salisbury, NC. JCSU returned to the court on Sunday morning and fell to UNC-Charlotte 7-0 on the 49ers Tennis Courts. J.C. Smith moves to 1-7 overall, all matches played have been non-conference.
The Catawba Indians glided through doubles and singles play on Friday. Freshman
Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) and senior
Jamil Jones (Atlanta, GA) put forth a strong effort in No. 2 doubles, but lost the match 8-2 to Tom McCormack and Uri Yacgoni.
Junior
McKenzie Bean (Hamilton, Bermuda) won three match points in the second set of No. 2 singles. However, Alex McDonald was victorious (6-0, 6-3) and Catawba won each singles competition.
On Sunday, JCSU traveled to the nearby Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex located on UNCC's campus for a match with the 49ers. UNC Charlotte out performed JCSU en route to a 7-0 victory.
The Golden Bulls will challenge another non-conference opponent in Pfeiffer University on Tuesday, February 15th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts.
