GOLDEN BULLS TENNIS TOPPED BY PFEIFFER 9-0 AT HOME
Four-match winless skid
Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team lost to Pfeiffer University 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon on the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on the campus of JCSU. The Golden Bulls move to 1-8 overall (all non-conference) and 1-4 at home.
Juniors
McKenzie Bean (Hamilton, Bermuda) and
Robert Butts (Atlanta, GA) fell in the No. 1 doubles spot (8-2) against Johan de Wit and Phillip Lawson. Freshman
Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) and senior
Jamil Jones (Atlanta, GA) were shut out 8-0 in No. 2 doubles. Senior
Barren Smith (Linwood, NJ) and junior
Jerald Stuckey (Cincinnati, OH) faced the same outcome (8-0) in No. 3 doubles against Stephen Tyndel and Ben Hunter.
J.C. Smith was unsuccessful in singles action. Each singles match was awarded to Pfeiffer in two sets.
The Golden Bulls will continue tuning up for conference play on Thursday, February 17th against
Wingate University. Match play is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the tennis courts on Wingate's campus.
