Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team eased past Saint Augustine's College to win both games (6-1 / 12-3) in a CIAA Southern Divisional double header on Thursday afternoon inside Biddleville Park. J.C. Smith improves to 7-16 overall and 7-6 in the CIAA, while the Lady Falcons remain winless this season at 0-21 overall and 0-9 in the conference.

Johnson C. Smith produced two more runs in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 6-1 victory. Simmons earned the win on the hill facing 25 at-bats with seven hits and six strikeouts. Smith had three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored, including her solo homer.
St. Augustine's fell into a deep hole early in game two down 7-1 heading into the third inning. JCSU put up three runs and three hits in the first, followed by four runs in the second. Johnson C. Smith concluded the second contest with a 12-3 victory in the fifth inning due to the NCAA eight-run rule. The Lady Falcons allowed runs in every inning along with 11 hits and four errors.
Reese had two doubles and three RBIs with two runs scored in the game.
Ashton Byrd is credited with the game two win on the mound. Byrd pitched three Ks and allowed seven hits and two runs.
