JCSU MEN’S TENNIS STARTED THE 2012 FALL SCHEDULE AGAINST CATAWBA AND CHARLOTTE

The Golden Bulls were shut out in both matchups

Results vs. Catawba | Results vs. Charlotte

Charlotte, N.C. – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team started the 2012 fall season at home against Catawba College on September 27th, followed by a road match versus UNC-Charlotte on September 28th. JCSU lost to Catawba 9-0 and were defeated by Charlotte 7-0 at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Thus far, the lineup has been set with junior Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) and sophomore Darrell Sawyer (Cincinnati, OH) playing number one doubles. The freshman duo of Yusuf Barnes (Leander, TX) and Kia Brewington (Siler City, NC) are the number two doubles pair; while sophomore Tobias Whitley (Largo, MD) and freshman Sharif Axam (Atlanta, GA) have the number three doubles assignment.

Against both Catawba and Charlotte, Sawyer played in the number one singles spot. Chever played number two singles, followed by Barnes, Brewington, Axam, and Whitley in the three through six singles positions, respectively.

The Golden Bulls will now travel to nearby Queens University of Charlotte for a match on Thursday, October 4th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on the Ovens Center Tennis Courts.
