Golden Bulls winless in non-conference matches

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team suffered non-conference losses to Wingate University and Coker College at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on Friday and Saturday afternoons, respectively. JCSU moves to 0-7 overall in the standings.

In doubles play, freshman Darrell Sawyer (Cincinnati, OH) and sophomore Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) fell in the first flight 8-1 to Flavio Rathsam and Ryan Forbes of Wingate. The Bulldogs also won number two 8-0 against the freshman duo of Tuan Nguyen (Greensboro, NC) and Tobias Whitley (Largo, MD).

Wingate swept singles matches 5-0 to earn a 7-0 victory against the Golden Bulls. The team fielded competition for number three doubles or number six singles.

The Coker Cobras were victorious on Saturday against JCSU by a score of 9-0. JCSU failed to win a set or match point in doubles or singles action.

The Golden Bulls return to action on Friday, February 24th against Pfeiffer University. Match play is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Pfeiffer's campus in Misenheimer, NC.
