Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team concluded the second half of the CIAA Cross-divisional Roundup 0-4 during the March 16-18 weekend at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts March 16-17. JCSU suffered two losses to Lincoln University (6-3; 5-2) and Virginia State University (9-0; 8-1).

With the exception of a 9-0 loss in the first match against Virginia State; select Golden Bulls had bright spots during the roundup.

Freshman Darrell Sawyer (Cincinnati, OH) and sophomore Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) were victorious against the top doubles pair from Lincoln (9-7) in the initial matchup. Sawyer also topped the number one singles competitor from Virginia State (6-2; 7-6) for the team's only match point.

Sophomore Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) and freshman Tobias Whitley (Largo, MD) grabbed wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles position, respectively in the second contest against Lincoln.

Ricardo Cornett and Daniel Herrera debuted for the Golden Bulls in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively. The pair also teamed together at the No. 3 doubles spot.

JCSU will begin divisional action this weekend (March 23-25) in the first CIAA Divisional Roundup hosted by Winston-Salem State University.
