Green finishes 2nd in his heat

London, U.K. – Johnson C. Smith University alumnus Leford Green qualified for the semifinals of the 400 meter hurdles on Friday morning at the 2012 London Summer Olympics held inside Olympic Stadium. Green ran a time of 49.30 to finish second in Heat Two representing the country of Jamaica. The semifinals will be held on Saturday, August 4th at 2:00 p.m. (EST).

There were 24 athletes that advanced to the semifinals of the event out of six opening round heats. Michael Tinsley (USA) was the only competitor out of Heat Two to finish with a faster time (49.13) than Green.

Green ran his best time of 48.47 in the 400m hurdles at the 2010 CAC Championships in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He is a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica and three-time 400m hurdle national champion. Green clocked a time of 48.88 to win the event at the 2012 Jamaica National Senior Championships.
