CIAA Softball Coaches Association Predicts Conference Order of Finish

Hampton, VA – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team has been predicted to finish fourth in the CIAA Southern Division for the 2013 season. Predictions are based on a ranking system selected by each head softball coach.

The Golden Bulls concluded the 2012 season with an overall record of 17-29 and a conference mark of 6-10. Warren Brooks takes over the program this year as the head coach. Brooks has been the assistant coach for the past two seasons and brings a decade worth of coaching experience.

There are eight student-athletes returning to the 14-man roster, including last season's All-Rookie selections Stacy Peralta (Brooklyn, NY) and Jasmin Harris (Stone Mountain, GA). Peralta recorded seven wins last season as the starting pitcher along with 19 hits and a homerun at the plate. Harris tallied 16 hits, 13 runs scored and three RBIs playing at the left field position.

JCSU opens the 2013 season with a non-conference doubleheader against Brevard College on Tuesday, February 12th. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Biddleville Park.
