Fayetteville, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team lost both games (2-8, 5-8) of a CIAA Southern Divisional doubleheader against Fayetteville State University on Tuesday, March 26th at Seabrook Park. JCSU moves to 4-19 overall and 2-9 at the CIAA; while the Lady Broncos improve to 10-22 overall and 8-2 in the conference.
JCSU went scoreless in the first four innings of game one. Meanwhile, Fayetteville State scored eight runs by the end of fourth inning to include three runs in the third and four in the fourth. The Golden Bulls got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth.

Cabrisha Anderson (Atlanta, GA) opened the fifth inning with a triple to right field. Junior
Jasmine Jackson (Chester, SC) followed with a RBI single up the middle to score Anderson. Sophomore catcher
Maci Black (Greensboro, NC) reached base on a fielder's choice and scored the other run in the inning.
Neither team produced a run after the fifth inning, resulting in an 8-2 win for the Lady Broncos. Freshman pitcher
Melissa Vierra (Tracy, CA) is charged with the loss on the mound. Vierra allowed 14 hits and eight runs with only one strikeout.
The Golden Bulls fell behind before attempting a comeback towards the end. FSU scored two runs in the first and three runs in the second inning. JCSU went scoreless for the first three innings of the ball game. Junior Britney Rowe (Cincinnati, OH) singled down the third base line and scored the only JCSU run in the fourth inning.
Fayetteville State responded at the bottom of the fourth with three hits and two runs. Both teams failed to score in the fifth. JCSU erupted in the sixth inning with three hits and four runs. Senior shortstop

FSU managed to squeak out two hits and an additional run in the sixth. Four batters came up to the plate, but only sophomore first baseman
Kenya Austin (Virginia Beach, VA) got a hit. JCSU dropped the second game by a score of 8-5.
Vierra pulled double duty pitching for the Golden Bulls. There were 12 hits and eight runs produced for Fayetteville State in game two.
JCSU returns to the diamond for a divisional doubleheader against Saint Augustine's University on Saturday, March 30th. First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, NC.
