Watson breaks his own school record

Winston-Salem, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's indoor track and field team kicked off the 2013-14 indoor season in the JDL Collegiate Kickoff at the JDL Fast Track; site for the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

Senior team captain Randale Watson (Kingston, Jamaica) led from the front at the first indoor meet of the with only school record on the men's side. Watson hurled 16.17m in the shot put for second place overall. He eclipses his own previous record of 15.20m set in January 2012.

Junior Geovanie Foote (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:00.20. Other top 12 finishers were sophomore Tracy Jones (Charleston, SC) placing seventh in the shot put (13.83m) senior Nykwan George (Charlotte, NC) took eighth in the 800m (2:07.62), and the 4x400m relay team of senior Rolando Berch (St. Andrew, Jamaica), Foote, junior Rajiv Service (Trelawny, Jamaica), and freshman Joshua Cunningham (Ontario, Canada) who finished fourth in 3:27.69.
