JCSU WOMEN’S BOWLING PLACES 10TH AT THE CIAA ROUNDUP

Only hometown meet of the season

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team finished in 10th place out of 11 teams at the CIAA Roundup held this weekend (February 7-9) at the AMF Centennial Lanes.

The Golden Bulls pulled out their only victory of the roundup on day one against Chowan. JCSU rolled a 589 to top the Hawks, who bowled a 565. Teams from the Southern Division faced the teams in the Northern Division in a two-day team competition format and then baker's matches on the third and final day.

Fayetteville State won the overall event with a total pin count of 15,508. Virginia State finished second (15,075), Bowie State placed third (14,961), Elizabeth City State placed fourth (14,213), and Winston-Salem State finished in fifth to round out the top five teams.

Junior Brittany Rowe (Cincinnati, OH) had the highest game bowled and highest average for the Golden Bulls. Rowe only participated in the second day of team competition and the baker's match. She rolled a team-high 197 against Elizabeth City State and averaged 158.8 pins for six games.

Seniors Kayla Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) and Sabrina Johnson (Columbia, SC) averaged 141 and 139.6 over the two-day team competition.

The Golden Bulls take a break from competition until March 14th when they travel to Kill Devil Hills, NC to compete in the third and final CIAA divisional event of the regular season.
