Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team topped Benedict College 3-2 in game one, but lost 13-2 in game two of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 12th at Biddleville Park. Seniors Britney Warren (Atlanta, GA) and Jasmine Jackson (Chester, SC) were recognized in-between contests.

Both teams scored one run in the opening inning of the first game. Sophomore catcher Monique Jefferson (West Hills, CA) hit a RBI single to score Britney Warren from third base.  Benedict broke the tie with a run scored in the top of the third. Freshman outfielder Breanna Archibald (Wendell, NC) knotted up the game in the fourth with a solo homerun.

The first game remained tied 2-2 for three and half innings. Junior second baseman Brittany Rowe (Cincinnati, OH) won the game for JCSU in an extra inning of play. In the bottom of the eighth, Rowe singled to left field which brought home freshman Morgan Hasty (Salem, IN) from third base for the win.

Freshman pitcher Victoria Lopez (San Diego, CA) checked in after the fourth inning and earned the win. Lopez only allowed three hits and one walk with three strikeouts and no runs. Sophomore pitcher Melissa Vierra (Tracy, CA) pitched the first four innings.

JCSU grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning of game two. Jasmine Jackson smacked a RBI triple to score Hasty. Unfortunately, the Golden Bulls committed three errors in the top of the third and Benedict erupted with seven hits and six runs.

Benedict held a lead for the remainder of the contest. Hasty added another run for JCSU with a homerun in the bottom of the fourth. That would be the last run scored for the Golden Bulls. The Lady Tigers produced one run in the fifth, two runs in the sixth, and four runs in the seventh en route to a 13-2 victory.
