Domenique Julius-Williams clocked a personal best and new JCSU record time of 2:13.87 in the 800m
Auburn, AL – The Johnson C. Smith University women's outdoor track and field team had some record-setting performances at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic held at the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the campus of Auburn University April 4-5th.
Sophomore
Tovea Jenkins (St. James, Jamaica) placed second overall in the 400m with a new school record of 54.00 (PB). The time is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark and places in the No. 2 spot on the TFRRS performance list. Freshman
Domenique Julius-Williams (Ontario, Canada) ran a season best time of 56.44 for 11th place in the 400m finals.
Julius-Williams clocked a personal best and new JCSU record time of 2:13.87 in the 800m, placing third in her heat and recording the 10th best time in the event. Senior
Danielle Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) and junior
Samantha Elliott (Kingston, Jamaica) finished second (13.35) and third (13.46) overall, respectively in the 100m hurdles. Senior
A'Tyan Kennedy (York, SC) placed 25th overall in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.16.
Williams placed second in the 100m with a season best time of 11.52. Sophomore
Trudy-Ann Richards (St. Thomas, Jamaica) time of 12.35 was 15th best. Freshman duo of Melone Woody (Clinton, MD) 12.51 and Shanice Petigrew (West Palm Beach, FL) 12.65 both had season best times in the 100m event.
Freshman
Crystal Campbell (St. Catherine, Jamaica) had a personal best time of 62.10 to place 13th overall in the 400m hurdles. Her time is a NCAA provisional qualifier (her first as a Golden Bull). The performance places her 10th on the TFRRS performance list. Kennedy also participated in the event with a time of 65.27.
In the field events, junior
Imeshia Jones (Reidsville, NC) placed eighth with a season best throw of 36.63 in the javelin. Sophomore
Shamaz Quince (West Palm Beach, FL) had a season best jump of 11.32 for 10th in the triple jump.
The Golden Bulls will host their next meet on April 11-12th at the Irwin Belk Complex. This will be the annual JCSU Track and Field Invitational. Field events will be on Friday, April 11th, followed by a majority of the track events on Saturday, April 12th.
