Charlotte, N.C. (March 6, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Anderson.

In JCSU's first game since Feb. 13 due to a series of weather challenges, the Golden Bulls fell behind in the second inning when Anderson put two runs on the board.  Anderson put the game out of reach in the third, plating eight runs, making it 10-0.  In that inning, the Trojans blasted a grand slam after loading the bases.  All told, Anderson had six hits and capitalized on two JCSU errors in the inning.

The Trojans added three more to their lead in the fourth inning by stringing together five hits.  JCSU's lone hit in the game came from Tia Mahoney (Hartwell, Ga.), as she had a single in the top half of the fourth to spoil the no-hit bid.

Anderson would  retire the Golden Bulls in order in the top half of the fifth to end the game.

In game two, JCSU was again stifled by the Trojan pitching, managing only two hits, one each from Melissa Vierra (Tracy, Ca.) and Cabrisha Anderson (Atlanta, Ga.)

Anderson took the 1-0 lead in the first and added four runs in the second to make it 5-0.  The Trojans added another run in the fourth inning go up 6-0.

JCSU could not scratch a run across, as Anderson retired the final eight batters to provide the 6-0 win.

JCSU falls to 2-4 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday, March 10 for a doubleheader with Coker College.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Biddleville Park.
