Men's Tennis Drops Matches to Chowan & Virginia State

Charlotte, N.C. (March 9, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith men's team dropped two matches each to CIAA foes Chowan and Virginia State over the weekend at the CIAA Roundup in Winston-Salem, N.C.
JCSU dropped a 5-0 decision to Chowan in the first meeting. Only two singles matches were completed in the match, with
Bradley Girgorio falling to Ivan Doubograev by a 6-0, 6-0 score in the #4 singles match. At #6, Chowan's Carlos Ramires downed Hazel Vazques-Xaca, 6-0, 6-0.
In the doubles competition, JCSU dropped all three matches. At #1 doubles, the JCSU team of
Sharif Axam and
Darrell Sawyer lost 8-1 to Tristan Martin and Rafael Goncalves.
In the second meeting with the Hawks, the Golden Bulls fell 6-0.
Against Virginia State, JCSU dropped two decisions, both by a 9-0 count.
JCSU will return to action on March 21-22 with a pair of matches at Virginia Union.
