Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Raleigh, N.C. (April 13, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith softball team dropped both ends of a CIAA doubleheader at St. Augustine's at Buffaloe Road Park in Raleigh on Monday afternoon.

In game one, neither team was able to scratch any runs across until the fifth inning, when the Falcons pushed four runs across.  Another Falcon run in the sixth made it 5-0 putting it out of reach.  JCSU could not manage a hit in their final at bat, falling in game one.

JCSU's Jocelyn Hernandez (Bloomington, Ca.), Stacy Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Morgan Hasty (Salem, Ind.) each went 1-for-3 in the game with singles to their credit.

Golden Bull pitcher Victoria Lopez fell to 6-5 with the loss.

In game two, St. Augustine's took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a solo home run from Meranda Zanni.  JCSU responded in the top of the second when Monique Jefferson laced a one-out double, but a strike out and a ground out ended the Golden Bulls' threat.

JCSU again put runners on first and second base in the fourth inning, but St. Augustine's turned a double play, ending the threat.  In the St. Augustine's half of the fifth, the Falcons pushed a run across, taking the 2-0 lead.  JCSU made a last gasp effort in the seventh, putting runners on first and second base, but a ground out to first base ended the game, with JCSU falling 2-0.

Tia Greene (Huntersville, N.C.) led the JCSU offense, going 2-for-3 in the second game.

Peralta took the pitching loss for JCSU and fell to 2-8 on the year.  She scattered five hits and struck out three in the loss.

JCSU falls to 11-13 on the year, 6-6 in CIAA play, and 4-2 in the Southern Division.  JCSU will return home to take on Winston-Salem State on Saturday, April 18 at Biddleville Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
