JCSU Men's Tennis Drops 9-0 Match to Queens
Belmont, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Belmont Abbey at the Reidy Tennis Center in Belmont. JCSU falls to 0-3 on the season while Belmont Abbey moves to 2-0 on the year.
After winning all three doubles matches, Belmont Abbey posted two 6-0, 6-0 singles wins as Nikhil Reddy blanked
Sharif Axam (Atlanta, Ga.) at the top spot, while Derrick Kwok defeated
Gerald Miller (New Orleans, La.) at No. 4.
Ero Okhiria and Isaiah Cole at the five and six positions, respectively, both dropped just one game as they won by scores of 6-0, 6-1 over
Eric Lopez-Araujo (Ecuador) and
Hazel Vazquez (Pageland, S.C.).
Mike Nguyen earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory over
Bradley Girgorio (New York, N.Y.) at number three and Michael Rapsik got a 6-0, 6-2 win over
Tarick Miller (New Orleans, La.) at No. 2.
In doubles, the Crusaders won all three doubles matches as Grant Goldin and Nguyen earned an 8-4 win at the top flight over Axam and
Tarick Miller. Okhiria and Kwok scored an 8-0 win at No. 2 over Girgorio and
Gerald Miller. At No. 3, Lopez-Araujo and Vazquez dropped an 8-0 decision to Rapsik and Cole.
