JCSU Men's Tennis Falls to Catawba and Wingate to Open the 2017 Season

Charlotte N.C. (Feb. 12, 2017) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team opened their 2017 spring season this past weekend, dropping two 9-0 decisions to local rivals Catawba and Wingate.

On Saturday, JCSU traveled to Salisbury, falling to Catawba. The Indians managed straight set wins over JCSU. Marlowe Anderson (Charlotte, N.C.) dropped his match at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2 in the most competitive match of the day.

Catawba also swept all three doubles matches.

On Sunday, JCSU traveled to nearby Wingate and suffered a 9-0 loss to the Bulldogs. Wingate also took straight set wins, dropping the Golden Bulls to 0-2 on the season.

JCSU will open their home schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 15 with a 1:00 p.m. match at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Courts against Queens.
