Charlotte, N.C. (March 20, 2017) – Bowie State University scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to down the Johnson C. Smith University softball team 4-3 in a CIAA Roundup make-up game at Biddleville Park on Monday afternoon.

BSU would get the run back in the bottom half of the fourth to make it 3-1, but the Golden Bulls picked up a run in the fifth to cut the BSU deficit to 3-2. In the inningÂ
Alexis D'Louhy (Winnabow, N.C.)Â was able to reach on a BSU error and quickly found herself on second after a steal and would advance to third when freshmanÂ
Randaisha Daniels (Shallotte, N.C.)Â singled to left field. D'Louhy would then score on a passed ball.
After a scoreless sixth inning, JCSU was able to tie the game in the seventh. SeniorÂ
Breanna Archibald (Wendell, N.C.)Â had a leadoff single and after a D'Louhy pop out, Daniels would single, advancing Archibald to third.Â
Jocelyn Hernandez (Bloomington, Ca.)Â would then reach on a fielder's choice, driving in Archibald from third to make it 3-3. JCSU was unable to push across the go-ahead run as BSU came to bat in the bottom of the seventh.
BSU ended the game quickly. After a leadoff bunt single, BSU then got a double to left center for the game-winner, dropping JCSU by a 4-3 final.
JCSU's Daniels finished 3-for-3 from the plate and collected her third double of the season in the loss. JCSU also got an RBI each from Greene and Hernandez.
Senior pitcherÂ
Victoria Lopez (San Diego, Ca.)Â dropped to 4-4 on the season as she allowed four runs on eight hits. She also had four strikeouts in the loss.
The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 7-10 overall and 3-2 in CIAA play while Bowie State improves to 8-8 and 5-1 in league play.
The Golden Bulls will return to play on April 1 with a CIAA Southern Division road doubleheader at St. Augustine's. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
