JCSU Men's Tennis Drops Season Finales to Virginia State
Charlotte, N.C. (April 17, 2018) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team closed out their 2017-18 season by dropping a pair of matches to Virginia State on Monday at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Courts.
In the first match, the Golden Bulls managed three wins, with
Desire Johnson (Hyattsville, Md.) earning a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Teammate
Gerald Miller (New Orleans, La.) also secured a win, downing his opponent at No. 5 singles by a 6-3, 6-6 (8-7) count.
The other JCSU point came at No. 1 doubles, when Johnson and
Marlowe Anderson (Charlotte, N.C.) bested their VSU opponents by an 8-5 score.
In the second match of the afternoon, VSU triumphed with a 7-2 win. Anderson and Johnson again won their match at No. 1 doubles with an 8-7 (7-4) score.
Johnson also captured his match at No. 1 singles, this time by a 7-5, 6-4 final.
With the losses, JCSU finishes their season at 2-20.
