SALISBURY, N.C. - The Johnson C. Smith softball team continued its winning ways with a 16-1 and 13-0 sweep of Livingstone College in CIAA Southern Division action
The games were played at Jaycee Optimist field in Salisbury and pushed the JCSU winning streak to eight. The Golden Bulls haven't lost a game since being shutout by Winston-Salem State on March 23. JCSU has averaged double-figure scoring in every game except their two wins over Fayetteville State on April 7.
In the first game against Livingstone, the offensive onslaught begin early. Kaitlyn Santos led off the first inning with a walk. then she promptly stole second, stole third and stole home to put the Golden Bulls on the scoreboard giving them a 1-0 lead.
JCSU didn't look back and despite mental base running errors, the Golden Bulls plated three runs on two hits before Livingstone came to bat.
JCSU continued scoring with 13 runs on nine hits to force a quick ending in the fifth inning.
Evelyn Arguelles led the offense going three-for-four with a home run, double and six rbi.
Shenice Harrison had two doubles.

Sanae Nakoa helped her own cause with a triple, rbi and run scored, while holding the Lady Blue Bears to just one hit in three innings pitched.
In the second game, Arguelles went three-for-three with a solo home run and double.

Tatyana Mars also batted 1,000 going two-for-two with two runs scored.
Mars picked up the win holding Livingstone to just one hit with five strikeouts.
JCSU returns to action next Thursday (April 17) when they go outside the conference to host uNC Penbroke at Biddleville Park. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
