Tavian Stewart finished 7th in the long jump finals and sophomore
Timor Barrett was eliminated after his 21st place finish in the preliminaries of the men's 400mh during day 1 of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, TX.
Stewart's best leap of 7.51m earned two points for the Golden Bulls in team standings.
Barrett's time of 56.37 wasn't fast enough tor him to advance.
Two more members of the Blue and Gold squad will make their debut in Saturday's field events.
Sophomore
Sah-Jay Stevens will be competing in the women's javelin beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Senior
Rayna Graham will enter the women's triple jump competition beginning at 4:45 Saturday afternoon.
The three-day championship meet continues Friday at Javelina Stadium on the Texas A&M-Kingsville University campus.
