Golden Bulls Drop 9-8 Decision To Shaw University First Day Of CIAA Round-Up

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Johnson C. Smith University softball dropped a 9-8 decision to Shaw University during the first day of the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up at the South Park Athletic Complex Thursday afternoon.
The loss dips the Golden Bulls (1-8) to 0-1 in the CIAA while Shaw (1-9) claimed its first conference win of the year for a 1-0 mark in league action.

Jasmine Hogan paced the Golden Bulls offensively, going 2-3 at the plate with two RBI's, three run and her first homer of the season. As a unit, JCSU was tallied eight hits compared to the Lady Bears who charted nine.

JCSU led 5-3 in the top of the seventh inning before plating six runs to give the Lady Bears a 9-5 lead. JCSU in the bottom of the seven scored three runs to end the game.

Hogan falls to 0-5 at the mound, tossing two innings allowing six earned runs and two strikeouts.
