Softball Gets First CIAA Win

Elizabeth City, NC - In their first two games of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action, the Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team fell 9-8 to Shaw in the opening game but bounced back in stellar fashion to defeat Elizabeth City State (1-9, 0-2 CIAA) 10-3 on Thursday afternoon at the South Park Sports Complex.

The split moved JCSU to 2-7 overall on the season and 1-1 in league action.
Eight different players tallied a hit in the second game, including a back to back homers from Lacasha Lawson and Alissa Alvarado.

The Golden Bulls sought revenge against Elizabeth City by scoring a season-high 10 runs. With a 5-3 lead after two innings, JCSU never looked back scoring in each inning to victory.

The Golden Bulls will return to action on Friday, Mar. 24 with a game against Bowie State (10 a.m.)  and Virginia State (1 p.m.).
