Panthers Shutout Golden Bulls in CIAA Quarterfinals

CHARLOTTE - The No. 7 seeded Johnson C. Smith University softball team falls to the No. 2 seed Claflin University with a 5-0 defeat on Tuesday in the CIAA Softball quarterfinals in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

In the bottom of the first inning the Panthers took a 2-0 lead.

The Panthers added three more runs in the fifth inning.
 
Jaylen Jackson of Claflin pitched a perfect game throwing seven strikeouts, and walking zero batters in the 5-0 win.

The Golden Bulls end the season with a 10-16 record, Alissa Alvarado pitched six innings of play. She faced 27 batters, striking out six on eight hits and five runs. Claflin advances to the semifinals of the CIAA Softball Championships.
