CHARLOTTE - The Golden Bulls men finished fourth overall with a total team time of 2:54:46 and an average of 34:57 per runner, placing behind Livingstone, Winston-Salem State, and Guilford.
Sophomore
Elijah Housley led the charge for JCSU, finishing 10th overall with a time of 29:55.6, averaging 6:08 per mile. Freshman
Christopher Coltrane-Gaston was the second Bull across the line in 33:45.6 (20th place), followed by
Tajer Basden (35:24.9),
Vegas Newport (35:30.1), and
Alexander Knight (40:10.5).
Christopher Jones-McCalla rounded out the top seven in 40:10.7.
Host Livingstone College claimed the men's team title with a score of 28, led by Brandon Jeffers' second-place finish in 26:02.
On the women's side, Johnson C. Smith placed third overall out of four teams, posting a total time of 2:10:26 and an average of 26:05 per runner.
Freshman
Janya Barnes led the Lady Golden Bulls with an 11th-place finish in 23:52.1, setting the tone early in the race.
Precious Durand (26:24.0),
Kamaya Speight (26:24.5), and
Rihan Price (26:43.8) ran tightly together to secure valuable scoring positions, while
Abigail Wicks (27:02.1) closed out the top five.
Gabrielle Maye (28:54.5) and
Skye Spencer-Layne (28:58.0) provided additional depth for JCSU's lineup.
Winston-Salem State earned the women's team title with a dominant score of 25 points, led by freshman Ava Millner, who won the race in 20:21.6.
