CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's and women's cross country team opened their season in the Catawba Fleet Feet Cross Country Invite. For the men's 8K race, JCSU placed
7th place overall with a total time of
3:12:39 and an average time of
38:31 per runner. The women's cross country team season-opening 5K meet, finishing
5th overall with a total team time of
2:17:56.

- Tyvion Williams (SO) – Led the Golden Bulls with a time of 35:35.3, placing 33rd overall. His pace of 7:09.5 per mile.
- Elijah Housley (SO) – Placed 34th, finishing in 35:49.0 time.
- Tajer Basden (SO) – Placed 36th place finish in 38:41.3.
- Vegas Newport (SR) – Placed 39th with a time of 41:06.0.
- Amontae Wray (JR) – Rounded out the scoring five in 40th, clocking in at 41:27.6.
