CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Johnson C. Smith University claimed both games of a doubleheader against Allen University on Thursday, rallying for an 11–10 win in the opener before completing the sweep with an 8–5 victory in the second game.
In the first game, the Golden Bulls used a seven-run sixth inning to overcome a three-run deficit and secure the comeback win. Allen held a 7–4 lead entering the bottom of the sixth before Johnson C. Smith erupted offensively.
Jahzira Hogan started the rally with an RBI single, and
Taylor Bullard added a run after reaching on an error.
DazeJah Lanham followed with a two-run play that put the Golden Bulls ahead before
Aniylah Lane delivered a two-run single to extend the lead.
Jasmine Jackson later added an RBI bunt single as Johnson C. Smith scored seven runs in the frame to take an 11–7 advantage.
Allen mounted a late push in the seventh inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to one, but the Golden Bulls held on for the 12-11 victory.
Lane finished with two RBIs and reached base four times, while Hogan and Lanham each drove in two runs.
In the second game, Allen jumped out to an early 4–0 lead.
Johnson C. Smith answered with a six-run third inning to take control. Hogan delivered an RBI single,
Logan Masinky added a sacrifice fly, and
Skylar Bledsoe tied the game with an RBI triple.
Tiera Arnold followed with an RBI double before
Sydney Bledsoe scored later in the inning to cap the rally.
The Golden Bulls added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings, including an RBI single by
Skylar Bledsoe and an RBI hit from Bullard, to extend the lead to 8–4.
Allen scored once in the seventh, but Masinky closed out the complete game victory for Johnson C. Smith, allowing five runs on seven hits.
Skylar Bledsoe led the Golden Bulls in the nightcap with four hits and two RBIs, while Lanham and Bullard each scored twice as Johnson C. Smith completed the doubleheader sweep.
