J. C. Smith Tennis Beats Belmont-Abbey, 7-2

Johnson C. Smith won four of six singles and the three doubles matches en route to a 7-2 win over Belmont Abbey Wednesday in Belmont, N.C.

J.C. Smith's Justin Stuckey defeated Aaron Miller at number one 6-2, 7-6 (7-2); Romar Douglas defeated Adam Gault at number two 6-3,6-3; Frento Burton defeated Jimmy Whitman at number three 7-5,6-2 and Faheem Wesley won by default at number six.

In two well played matches, Russell McKoy lost to Belmont's Peter Girodone 6-2,2-6, (10-1) at number four and Gerge Dixon lost to Belmont's Enrique Gonzalez 6-2, 7-5 at number five.

The Golden Bulls (2-6, 0-0,0-0) swept the doubles with Douglas and Stuckey beating Miller and Whiman 8-6 at one; Burton and Wesley beating Gault and Gonzalez 9-7 at two and Mckoy and Dixon winning by default at number three.

The Golden Bulls prepare for their conference opener at home against North Carolina Central University on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 2 p.m.
