JCSU still undefeated

Lincoln University, PA – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team (No. 24) remain unbeaten after a 58-48 conference victory over Lincoln (PA) University Saturday afternoon inside Manuel Rivero Hall. JCSU improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA, while the Lady Lions fall to 1-4 in the standings. Lincoln is not officially a conference participant this season; however their contests count towards the CIAA standings.
Lincoln held a narrow 18-17 lead halfway through the first half. After a JCSU timeout, the Lady Golden Bulls went on a 13-2 scoring run to close out the half with a 30-20 advantage. Senior forward Demetria Bell (Indianapolis, IN) was 4-for-4 from the field with 11 points and three rebounds at the break.
In the second half, JCSU maintained control throughout. The lead was pushed to as much as 18 and never went below double digits. The Lady Golden Bulls out rebounded Lincoln 44-34 and shot 56.7% from the free throw line (17-30).
Bell finished with a team-high 13 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Tyra Breaux (Baltimore, MD) had an all-around performance with 12 points, six steals, and four boards. Senior forward Sheria Hatcher (Flint, MI) and junior center Brittane Neely (Arlington, VA) each scored seven.
Sharay Dubose and DeJuana Mosley led Lincoln despite being limited by foul trouble. Mosley finished with 13 points and Dubose with 10, the only LU players in double digits.
Johnson C. Smith will continue on their northern conference road trip when they face Bowie State University on Monday, November 30th. Tip-off against the 2-3 Lady Bulldogs is scheduled for 5:30 pm inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
