JCSU CROSS COUNTRY KICKOFF SEASON AT SALEM COLLEGE INVITATIONAL
First meet of 2009
Winston-Salem, NC - The Johnson C. Smith University cross country team began their season on Saturday, September 12th with an 8K at the Salem College Invitational. The meet consisted of men's and women's college race and also two high school races.
The men's team finished sixth overall with a score of 124. Individually, Kent King clocked in at 33.50.7 for 21st, Jonathan Jackson 34:19.3 for 23rd, Leford Green 35:21.5 for 28th, Jamille Callum 35:30.2 for 29th, Richard Harkness 38.02.3 for 34th, and Everette Berry 38:09.5 for 35th out of 43 runners.
The women's college race consisted of runners from all three NCAA divisions and also NAIA schools. The women's team of Shermaine Williams 27:03.7, Nikki Boston 27:08.6, Lakaevia Tyler 31:14.5, Monique Kelly 31:55.1, and Rosemarie Carty 35:22.8 finished 8th in the Team scoring table in women's 5K event.
The Golden Bulls will compete again on Saturday, September 19th at the Guilford College Invitational in Greensboro, NC. The main objective in their second meet is to set season best times.
