Johnson C. Smith volleyball picked up wins against St. Paul's College and Virginia Union University in the CIAA Round-up
Hampton, VA - The JCSU volleyball team completed day three of the CIAA Volleyball Round-up with a 3-1 loss (24-26, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25) to Lincoln University of Pennsylvania and a 3-2 win (25-14, 25-11, 25-27, 23-25, 15-10) over Virginia Union University in the Boo Williams Sportsplex Sunday afternoon. Johnson C. Smith improves to 2-10 in the overall standings and 2-4 in the CIAA.
The Lady Golden Bulls defeated St. Paul's 3-0 the first day of the round-up. On day two (Saturday), JCSU fell to Bowie State 3-1 and were swept 3-0 by Virginia State and Elizabeth City State.
Freshman defensive specialist
Tahlia Jolicoeur (Marietta, GA) finished the round-up with 37 kills, 14 service aces, and 17 digs. Junior middle hitter
Mauranda Elliott (Tabor City, NC) had a balanced performance over the weekend with 32 kills and 33 digs. Sophomore setter
Alexis Webb (Durham, NC) set her teammates up to the tune of 93 assists, along with 18 service aces and 27 digs.
JCSU returns to action on Wednesday, September 16th against CIAA Western Division rival Shaw University. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm on the campus of Shaw in Raleigh, NC.
