Murfreesboro, NC - The Lady Golden Bulls fell in three sets to Chowan University 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-12) Thursday evening inside the Helms Center. JCSU drops to 3-14 overall and 2-7 in the CIAA, while the Hawks improve to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in the conference.

Junior outside hitter Rashondae Henderson had a team-high seven kills, six digs and a .583 hitting percentage. Junior middle hitter Mauranda Elliott had four kills and four digs and played in all three games of the match.

Karina Monroe hit 15 kills in 20 attempts, while teammate Victoria Lewis had 13 kills, six digs and three service aces for Chowan. Fellow Hawk Antoinette McCollough had 12 kills in 16 attempts (.750), while Callie Armistead set up 37 assists to go with three service aces and four digs.

Johnson C. Smith will now face Glenville State College and Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday, September 26th in Glenville, WV. All three will square off in a tri-match schedule to begin at 11:00 am inside Jesse R. Lilly, Jr. Gymnasium on the campus of Glenville State.
