Simpson concluded the contest 13 points, five rebounds, and seven turnovers for VUU.

“We stayed poised and focused on a strong defensive effort and that contributed to us getting this victory,” said JCSU head coach Vanessa Taylor. “It's no rest for the wary, we came on this road trip to get two wins and we're certain Virginia State will be prepared when we come to their building.”

Johnson C. Smith will travel to Petersburg, VA to face Virginia State University on Monday, January 25th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm inside Daniel Gymnasium on the campus of VSU. The Lady Trojans are currently ranked 25th in the ESPN/USA Today Division II poll and squeaked out a 59-50 win earlier this season (01/02/10) in Brayboy Gym.
