JCSU 0-2 at home during fall schedule

Results vs. Concord

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team was outmatched 8-1 against Concord University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon on the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts. JCSU moves to 0-4 in their non-conference fall season. 

Juniors Robert Butts (Atlanta, GA) and McKenzie Bean (Hamilton, Bermuda) defeated Joao Mischaitti and Leonardo Araujo in number one singles 8-6 for the first match point of the season. Despite the strong start, senior Jamil Jones (Atlanta, GA) and junior Jerald Stuckey (Cincinnati, OH) dropped the second set 8-0 to Diogo Montiero and Andrew Iruthayarajah. Senior Barren Smith (Linwood, NJ) and freshman Dion Chever (Newport News, VA) fell in the final doubles match 8-0. 

The Golden Bulls were unsuccessful in each of the six singles competitions. Concord picked up the victory 8-1. 

JCSU has one final match on the fall schedule at home against West Virginia State University on Saturday, October 16th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts.
