Margaret Jones won points in #2 doubles & #6 singles for the 5-4 JCSU win over Concord

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team defeated Concord University 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts. JCSU improves to 1-4 overall during their fall non-conference schedule.
J.C. Smith won the first two doubles matches to go ahead. Freshmen
Felicia Akande (Winston-Salem, NC) and Keina Love (Wilson, NC) beat Laura Leon and Nicole Shaw 8-5 in the number one doubles flight. Junior
Rolanda Sue (Charlotte, NC) and sophomore
Margaret Jones (Newport News, VA) were victorious over Christine Knable and Emily Fletcher 8-3 in the number two doubles match.

Camille Allen (Teaneck, NJ) and Sophomore
Samantha Barnes (Hampton, VA) let the number three doubles match slip away in a 8-6 loss to Mihuri Furahata and Kirby Mustard.
Love lost to Nicole Shaw (6-0, 6-1) in number one singles, but Akande rebounded with a victory (6-2,6-1) in number two singles against Laura Leon. Mustard and Fletcher outmatched Sue and Allen in number three and four singles, respectively.
Barnes won (6-0, 6-2) over Knable in number five singles to tie the match 4-4. Jones secured the team win with a victory (6-4, 6-3) in number six singles action.
The Golden Bulls have one final match on the fall schedule at home against West Virginia State University on Saturday, October 16th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts.
