Chapel Hill, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's indoor track and field team was only allowed to compete on one of the two days scheduled during the Dick Taylor UNC Classic at the Eddie Smith Field house after day two's events were cancelled due to inclement weather. With the snow falling outside, the Lady Golden Bulls warmed the indoor track with some memorable performances.
Junior and 2009 All American
Nikki Boston made her first attempt at the pentathlon competing her way to 3,232 points, just 68 points below the NCAA provisional qualifying time. Boston had a gallant performance; which included 8.89 (PB) in the 60m hurdles, 1.50m (PB) in the high jump, 4.97m (PB) in the long jump, 10.38m in the shot put and 2:39.95 (PB) in the 800m.
Junior
Shermaine Williams added her name to JCSU's list of NCAA qualifiers, entering atop the 60m hurdles national rankings. Williams, the defending national indoor champion topped all collegiate athletes in the event finishing with 8.29. Williams was also successful in gaining national ranking in the 60m dash (7.67), which ranks 15th in the nation.
Junior
Lakaevia Tyler also competed in the 60m hurdles and the 60m dash. After a great start in the hurdles, Tyler had difficulty and was unable to finish the event. However, she returned to achieve 7.82 (PB) in the 60m dash placing and placed fourth in the final two for the event. Sophomore
Montavia Hawkins timed in at 9.19, a personal best in the 60m dash.

Nada Al-Arahshun completed the performances on Friday running 6:35.22 in the women's mile.
Day two of the meet was cancelled due to the winter storm, which brought huge amounts of snow sleet and rain. The Lady Golden Bulls will take a week off competition while preparing for the CIAA indoor conference Championships to be held in Hampton, VA on February 13, 2009. Head Coach
