JCSU was blanked in the initial three singles matches. Freshman Margaret Jones (Newport News, VA) managed one match point in No. 4 singles, but suffered a (6-0. 6-1) defeat to Evan Okafor. Allen had a tough fought match versus Steele but eventually fell (6-1, 6-3) in the fifth singles spot.

Breaux dominated Williams at the number six singles position (6-1, 6-1) for the only JCSU singles win.

Johnson C. Smith University recognized the accomplishments and contributions of tennis coaches Dr. Winston Coleman and James Cuthbertson, Jr. holding a court naming dedication ceremony for both prior to the competition.
