Robert Butts gathered wins at the No. 2 singles spot and No. 2 doubles with partner McKenzie Bean
Murfreesboro, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team overwhelmed Chowan University 9-0 in a divisional season conclusion Tuesday afternoon at the CU Tennis Complex. JCSU finishes the season 14-12 overall, 8-2 in the CIAA, and 4-2 in the Western Division.

Jason Stuckey (Cincinnati, OH) and
Aaron Hutcherson (Cincinnati, OH) easily moved past Bjorn Blythe and Levonte Perkinson 8-1 in the No. 1 double spot. Sophomores
Robert Butts (Atlanta, GA) and
McKenzie Bean (Hamilton, Bermuda) blanked Charles Fisher and George Ziedan 8-0 at the No. 2 doubles position. Junior
Jamil Jones (Atlanta, GA) and sophomore
Jerald Stuckey (Cincinnati, OH) took No. 3 doubles match by forfeit.
Jason Stuckey routed Blythe (6-0, 6-2) at the No. 1 singles position. Butts only allowed one match point in two sets (6-0, 6-1) against Perkinson in No. 2 singles. Bean, Hutcherson, and Jones all won in two sets (6-0, 6-0) without allowing any match points. Junior
Barren Smith (Linwood, NJ) earned a victory at the No. 6 singles position due to forfeit.
J.C. Smith enters the CIAA Championships as the number two ranked team in the CIAA Western Division, only trailing Shaw with a 13-0 conference mark.
Johnson C. Smith will travel to Petersburg, VA for the 2010 CIAA Tennis Championship. Match play will be held at the Virginia State Tennis Complex on April 15-17th.
