Murfreesboro, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team delivered a 9-0 winning performance against Chowan University Tuesday afternoon at the CU Tennis Complex. JCSU finishes the season 14-11 overall, 12-3 in the CIAA, and 8-2 in the Western Division.

Jae Hargett (Minneapolis, MN) out-paced Tara Lunney and Amanda Spaulding for an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Sophomore captain

Margaret Jones (Newport News, VA) followed with an 8-3 victory at the No. 2 doubles position. Junior
Tyra Breaux (Baltimore, MD) and sophomore
Camille Allen (Teaneck, NJ) quickly defeated Brittany Moser and Rebecca Wells 8-1 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
In singles action, Barnes went three sets (6-2, 4-6, 10-2) before trumping Spaulding at the No. 1 position. Hargett only allowed one match point in two sets (6-0, 6-1) against Beverly in No. 2 singles. Sue, Jones, Allen, and Breaux all won in two sets in their respective singles position.
JCSU enters the CIAA Championships as the number two ranked team in the CIAA Western Division, only trailing Shaw with a 13-0 conference mark.
Johnson C. Smith will travel to Petersburg, VA for the 2010 CIAA Tennis Championship. Match play will be held at the Virginia State Tennis Complex on April 15-17th.
