Charlotte, NC — The Johnson C. Smith University football student-athletes arrived on campus Saturday, August 8th to start their journey towards the CIAA Championship. The team will hold 14 practice sessions and an intra-squad scrimmage leading up to the first day of classes for the University on August 18th.
Each practice during fall ball is open to the media and public. Those requesting interviews are asked to give 24 hours notice to ensure coach and player availability. Interviews can be done 15 minutes prior to the start or the conclusion of each practice.
The Golden Bulls will conduct an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, August 14th from 3-5 pm at McGirt Field, the university's football field.
The annual media day (Festi-Bull) will be held on Friday, August 20th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm inside the Irwin Belk Complex.
JCSU opens the season on the road against Elizabeth City State at 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 28th at Roebuck Stadium in Elizabeth City, NC. J.C. Smith is 10-7 all-time against the Vikings; however ECSU was victorious last year 51-10 in Charlotte, NC. The two schools first played in 1956, an 8-6 Golden Bulls victory.
