The team totaled 121 kills over the two-day CIAA Round-up competition
Winston-Salem, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball team finished 1-3 in the 2010 CIAA Round-up hosted by Winston-Salem State University. JCSU improves to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the CIAA. The Lady Golden Bulls lost to Chowan 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-20) and Virginia State 3-1 (25-27, 25-18, 25-23, 25-13) on day one, but defeated St. Paul's 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) and pushed Virginia Union to a fifth set loss 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 26-24, 15-12) on the second and final day of competition.
Junior outside hitter
Tahlia Jolicoeur (Marietta, GA) had a team-high 36 kills over the weekend, including 13 in the victory over St. Paul's. On the defensive side, juniors
Jennifer Williams (Mitchellville, MD) and
Alexis Webb (Durham, NC) had 35 and 33 digs, respectively.
Freshman middle hitter
Shameka Randolph (Orangeburg, SC) chimed in against Virginia State with 11 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Sabrina Johnson (Columbia, SC) collected 12 digs in match versus St. Paul's.
JCSU will travel to Raleigh, NC to face Shaw University on Wednesday, September 15th at 6:00 pm.
