JCSU falls for the first time in Brayboy this season

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-20) loss to Benedict College on Monday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU moves to 5-10 overall, while the Tigers improve to 9-2 in the standings. 

Benedict got off to fast starts in the beginning of each set. J.C. Smith made comeback attempts in the first and third sets, but unfortunately loss the match in three straight. 

Junior outside hitter Jennifer Williams (Mitchellville, MD) led the attack with seven kills, followed by freshman middle hitter Shameaka Randolph (Orangeburg, SC) with six kills and one block assist. Freshman setter Kayla Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) dished out 14 assists. 

Melinda Bastian and LaTayvia Mack tallied double digit kills with 17 and 11, respectively. 

The Lady Golden Bulls will quickly return to action with a match against Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday, September 28th. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
